All Problems, No Solutions - Numbers 11:4-5
See All...
INTRODUCTION
Man has no trouble creating and recognizing trouble, but he often experiences great difficulty in finding solutions. The children of Israel readily identified problems in the wilderness, but rarely did they ever offer reasonable solutions to these problems. Their expectation was that someone else could provide solutions as long as they could offer their complaints. Even today, this is a common weakness. People can complain about problems, but they have no ambition to fix them. The average person feels it his responsibility to complain and someone else’s responsibility to solve the problem. This has greatly troubled the country, the workplace, the home, and the church.
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) In Acts 6:1And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.
See All..., we read about a problem in the early church. The ones who were complaining did not come up with a solution. The apostles had to solve the problem (Acts 6:2-5 [2] Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. [3] Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. [4] But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word. [5] And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:
See All...). - How does it demonstrate a lack of character when we are willing to offer up complaints but unwilling to be a part of the solution to the problems we identify?
- Why is it that man naturally causes or is involved in problems, but has little to no concept of how to resolve those problems? How could one improve in this area?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Ask God to teach you how to solve problems.
- Ask God to build this character in you and your loved ones.
